New pay-as-you-go-card from Virgin
by Kay Murchie
Virgin has introduced a new pay-as-you-go card which will enable consumers to put money onto their card, as they would with a mobile phone, they can then use the funds to shop on the high street or online and to withdraw money from ATMs. The card can be topped up at Post Offices, online and at PayPoints across the country.
The card can also be useful for those who find it difficult to budget, because the card cannot go overdrawn so there are no fees or interest charges and customers can keep an eye on their spending with online statements. It provides travellers with a safer alternative to carrying cash and can be used at ATMs worldwide.
The Virgin card also offers money off its products, a consumer could benefit from 10% discounts with holidays, insurance and at Virgin Megastore. In addition, those choosing to become a member of Virgin Active Health Clubs will receive a 75% discount on their joining fee.
Virgin also hopes the card will enable people such as migrant workers currently living in the UK to send money back to their families in their native countries.
