Swinton acquires Rockford
by Kay Murchie
Swinton Group has acquired commercial insurance broker Rockford Insurance Brokers. Swinton said the deal will significantly increase its business to business offering and will complement the work of its existing commercial division, Swinton Business. Rockford will be keeping all members of staff and will continue to trade under the same name for the foreseeable future.
Rockford was founded in 2001 by Allan Hardill and Leon Davidson. It employs over 50 staff across three Northern offices and has a premium income of £15 million.
According to Swinton, Rockford has developed a number of specialist markets within the motor trade, education and medical sectors in addition to their corporate commercial client base.
In the past 5 years, Swinton has made over 250 broker acquisitions, these include Vectis Insurance Services, its4me, the on-line motor intermediary and the retail divisions of Budget.
