Gadgetsafe has been launched by The Capita Group’s BDML Insurance Solutions division. It is a new service that provides cover for personal electronic devices. According to BDML, a vast amount of people are in possession of gadgets that are valued at £1,000.
A change in lifestyle has meant that many people depend on mobile technology which is why BDML have launched Gadgetsafe. The group declared that many home insurance policies can have rather high excesses and may not ensure speedy replacement of these essential items.
Gadgetsafe offers a 48 hour repair/replacement service and up to 2 months worldwide cover each policy year. The policy costs £7.99 per month for 3 items, or £9.99 per month for 5 items.
The following gadgets are all eligible for cover – mobile phones, blackberries, laptops, cameras, Ipods, PDAs and satellite navigation units, the cover extends to accidental damage, theft and breakdown.
BDML is currently in discussion with a number of potential partners and is to launch Gadetsafe this month with Atlas Direct, the travel insurer.
