Home insurance – a reminder from the Nationwide
by Kay Murchie
With children setting off to university shortly, parents are being urged to make sure that their children have adequate insurance when attending university.
The Nationwide Building Society said that parents could avoid paying more to insure their children if they check that their current policies provide cover for their possessions while away from home.
A spokesperson for the Nationwide said that university can be a costly experience when taking tuition fees and accommodation expenses into account. With many things to think about, parents may forget about the importance of their child having home insurance while studying at university.
Furthermore, the Nationwide said that students are often prime targets for thieves so parents must ensure that their children’s possessions are adequately insured.
A spokesperson for moneysupermarket.com concluded that covering students’ possessions under their parent’s policy is a great way of saving cash.
