Drivers unaware of updates to the Highway Code safety rules
by Kay Murchie
There have been updates to the Highway Code safety rules and Churchill Car Insurance has expressed concerns that many motorists are unaware of them.
For instance, 84% of drivers are not aware that playing loud music is against the rules and 65% confess to eating while driving which is not allowed.
A spokesperson for Churchill Car Insurance said drivers must look into these changes and highlighted that motorists should not live by the Highway Code alone, but should use their common sense when on the road.
The spokesperson continued that things that prevent a motorist from driving safely or distracts them should be avoided so that accidents can be prevented.
Churchill revealed in March that many motorists are scared of turning right and 30% thought driving in stiletto shoes or flip-flops was against the rules, which is actually not the case.
