Free contents insurance at Aviva and More Than
by David Masters
Two of the UK’s biggest home insurance providers, Aviva (Norwich Union) and More Than, are offering free contents insurance to new buildings insurance customers.
Aviva’s offer gives up to £50,000 free contents cover to customers buying buildings and contents insurance together.
The offer is available on all new policies, provided that customers have not made a buildings or contents insurance claim in the last three years.
With More Than, all new home insurance customers can get free contents insurance with £75,000 cover. An extra 25% discount is available for buying online.
The two offers come a week after Direct Line started offering 50% off home insurance for new customers.
Andrew Lowe, Direct Line’s head of home insurance, said not only does the 50% off save customers money, it also provides enough cover to give customers peace of mind.
Peter Markey, marketing director at More Than, branded Direct Line’s offer as little more than a gimmick to attract new customers.
More Than rewards loyal customers as well as discounting for new customers, Markey said.
Other home insurance deals available include up to 50% off Churchill home insurance with an extra 15% discount for buying online; and up to 20% discount on Sainsbury’s home insurance.
Tesco is offering £35 cash back to clubcard customers taking out a new home insurance policy, and a 35% online discount.
