January and February free on Direct Line home insurance
by David Masters
Direct Line has announced that it is offering twelve months home insurance for the price of ten.
All new customers taking out a policy in March and April will be eligible for the offer.
Direct Line said they decided to release the offer now after a survey discovered January and February are the UK’s least favourite months of the year.
“Our research shows most people would prefer to take January and February off the calendar,” said Andrew Lowe, head of Direct Line Home Insurance.
Hence the two month’s free home insurance for policies taken out in March - January and February 2010 will be the months when no premium fees are due.
Direct Line speculated on a number of reasons for the first two months of the year being everyone’s least favourite - from limited daylight to post-Christmas hangovers.
Lowe believes it’s all down to the rain, snow, and winter cold.
“It might all be down to the classic British obsession with the weather,” he said.
