Saga offers road accident healthcare cover
by David Masters
Saga is offering accident healthcare cover to its car insurance customers.
The financial provider, which specialises in providing cover for the over 50’s, said the optional add-on gives drivers peace of mind should they be injured in a road traffic accident.
Saga said it decided to offer the add-on after it discovered that ill health is a major cause of stress and anxiety among the over 50’s.
Furthermore, 250,000 people are injured on the UK’s roads every year.
The Accident Healthcare add-on providers up to £1,000,000 cover for private medical treatment of injuries sustained in road traffic accidents in the UK.
Cover includes up to 180 days treatment in a private hospital, outpatient treatment, consultants’ and specialists’ fees, physiotherapy, and ambulance transfer from an NHS hospital.
Andrew Goodsell, Saga Group chief executive, said: “Even a minor road accident can require medical treatment that can be a drawn out process.
“At times like these, older people in particular value quick access to high quality care that private healthcare provides.”
