MyHealthCounts rewards healthy policy holders

Aviva has launched a new health insurance policy that rewards customers who take responsibility for their own well-being.

MyHealthCounts offers policy holders the opportunity to save up to £180 off yearly premiums by keeping fit and healthy.

Customers applying for a MyHealthCounts policy are given an online health check, providing them with a “Q Score”. Those with a Q Score of more than 40 out of 100 are rewarded with a discount of up to 15%.

The discount is offered irrespective of whether a customer has previously made a health insurance claim.

Q Scores are based on an individual’s BMI, cholesterol level, blood pressure, diet, and lifestyle, including whether they smoke or exercise.

Aviva said the policy is designed to reward a wide range of healthy behaviours.

“People often associate medical insurance wellness discounts with going to the gym but we recognise that everyone is different,” said Dr Doug Wright, Aviva’s head of clinical governance.

“Rather than adopting a “one size fits all approach” MyHealthCounts lets our customers choose the steps they take to improve their lifestyle - however big or small.”
