Nationwide boosts e-Savings maximum

Savers investing in an e-Savings Plus account at Nationwide Building Society can now make unlimited deposits up to a maximum balance of £3 million.

The account pays interest at 2% gross p.a./AER variable, provided the account holder makes no more than three withdrawals per year and keeps the account open for at least 12 months.

Over 150,000 e-Savings Plus accounts have been opened since the account was launched in December 2008, Nationwide revealed.

The account can be opened with a minimum balance of £1.

“The e-Savings Plus account allows savers who do not need regular access to their savings to benefit from a competitive rate that lasts,” said Andy Hutchinson, Nationwide’s head of savings.

“As the account has been so popular, we’re pleased to be able to increase the maximum balance.”

In 1997, Nationwide was the first UK financial provider to launch online banking. Over three million Nationwide customers are now registered for internet banking.
