Most IFAs offer ethical investment advice
by David Masters
Nearly nine in ten independent financial advisers (IFAs) offer advice on green and ethical investments, a new study has found.
Research commissioned by National Ethical Investment Week (NEIW) and the Association of Independent Financial Advisers found 87% of IFAs will offer advice to clients on investing their money ethically.
This is compared to 70% of IFAs in 2008.
Over a third (34%) of IFAs think there is adequate information on ethical and green investments. This is compared to 15% last year.
The proportion of advisers who believe there is limited information on ethical investments has dropped significantly from 45% to 26&.
Commenting on the research, UK Sustainable Investment and Finance (UKSIF) said IFAs need to include information on green and ethical investments in their everyday advice.
Penny Shepherd, UKSIF chief executive, said: “Advisers have a real opportunity to add value for a large number of their clients by gauging their attitudes towards green and ethical issues and helping them plan and invest accordingly.”
National Ethical Investment Week runs from 8 to 14 November.
