Santander discounts premium accounts
by David Masters
Santander is attempting to lure new customers into opening a premium current account with an introductory special offer.
New customers opening a Premier 50 Current Account at Alliance & Leicester or a Reward Bank Account at Abbey will pay account fees of just £5 per month for the first three months.
After this introductory period, the monthly payment will rise to the standard rate of £10 per month.
Both premium accounts offer a range of benefits, including 6% interest for 12 months, lost card assistance, and travel insurance.
Other benefits include an interest-free overdraft and identity protection with up to £50,000 insurance.
Emma Walkley, Santander’s current accounts manager, said the accounts pay a “market leading” rate of interest.
The special offer is available until 13th December.
