Berkshire Hathaway’s investments revealed in SEC filing
Berkshire Hathaway, the investment group controlled by respected US billionaire investor Warren Buffett, has revealed its latest investments.
Seventy-nine year old Buffett is often referred to as the ‘Oracle of Omaha’ and is one of the most successful investors in history and therefore any investments made by his company are closely monitored.
The investment vehicle said it held 3.4 million American depositary receipts – which represents shares in foreign companies of Nestle, worth $144.7 million.
Furthermore, Berkshire has around 1.28 million shares valued at $87.6 million of Exxon Mobil Corp (the world’s largest oil company).
In addition, it also reported doubling its stake in Wal-Mart (the world’s largest retailer) to 37.8 million shares from 19.9 million as at the end of June.
However, it was also disclosed that the investment vehicle had reduced its stakes in oil refiner ConocoPhillips by around 11% and has also cut its stake in Moody’s, the credit ratings agency.
The disclosures were made in a US Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Last week, Berkshire Hathaway reported a surge in net profit for the three months to September.
The group said net profit was $3.2 billion (£1.9 billion) compared to $1.1 billion in the same period a year earlier.
Mr Buffett is often referred to as the ‘Oracle of Omaha’ and last year, he was ranked by Forbes as the richest person in the world.
Berkshire Hathaway also has major investments in companies including Coca-Cola and US banking giant, Goldman Sachs.
