Barclaycard to close office in Glasgow with loss of 350 jobs

Barclaycard has today confirmed it is to close its loan centre in Glasgow this summer, which will result in the loss of 350 jobs.

The centre, which is located at Academy Park on the city’s south side, deals with loans arranged at the point of sale in shops.

Neil Radley, managing director of International Consumer Lending at Barclaycard, said: “This has been a difficult decision to make and I understand how hard it is for our colleagues here in Glasgow.”

Barclaycard said it will relocate its loan centre, Barclays Partner Finance in Glasgow, to other sites in the UK.

However, the financial company said staff will be given the opportunity to transfer to other parts of group, including Barclays Wealth in Glasgow.
