“Unconference” offers training in social enterprise
The biggest “unconference” in social enterprise launches today with a post-election party and a debate on how the coalition government will affect socially responsible businesses.
The Shine Unconference is “the opposite of a traditional business event, offering a dynamic network where you can be a part of helping the whole movement grow,” conference organisers said in a statement.
Speakers at Shine include former Dragon’s Den star Doug Richard, who will explain why the time is ripe fr social enterprise, and Dame Mary Marsh of the Clore Leadership Programme, who will discuss the importance of leadership in business.
Shine will also host a range of workshops on issues related to social enterprise including resources, revenues, communications, fundraising, and understanding social impact.
New entrepreneurs can attend one-to-one advice sessions on a range of issues from marketing to finance.
Jess Tyrrell, Shine spokesperson, said the event offers delegates the opportunity to attend high quality training in socially responsible business practice.
“Over three days, Shine offers a mini-business school with all the elements social entrepreneurs need to grow fast: practical support, inspiration, services, tools and connections,” Tyrrell said.
