Incahoot offers energy deals as Ofgem forces price changes

Group buying website, is currently offering a £30 cashback offer on First Utility energy bills, with a free smart meter, which it says will help members cut the risk of a sudden shock fuel bill thanks to 100% accurate monthly billing.

The offer comes at a time when heavy winter fuel bills will already be hitting, and Ofgem rules on price tariff changes are about to come into play at the end of the month.

While price comparison websites such as Moneysupermarket help compare individual deals, a new breed of website for group-buying has developed in recent years, which allows consumers to get even bigger discounts.

John Evans, founder of Incahoot, said: “Incahoot offers consumers the exact opposite to a price comparison site. Our aim is to provide our members with long-term savings from carefully chosen deals, rather than make commission from short-term switching.”

New changes to energy pricing rules come into effect in just over two weeks time, after regulator Ofgem forced a review of tariffs, which should help protect consumers further.

From April 28th, customers must be given a minimum of 30 days advance notice before changes are made to prices by their energy provider.

The change comes after some erngy companies forced price rises up to three months retrospectively.
