Default Abbey Premium (formerly Inscape)

This is my first post after joining today, so please excuse if my problem has been covered before.
In 2006 we invested £80000 in the above scheme, having chosen 'Growth with stability' which was classed as 'cautious' after a lengthy interview and risk profile. Today the value hovers around £62000.
Has anyone suffered a similar experience? Has anyone any suggestions as to how to proceed? Any advice would be very much appreciated - we know very little about investment.

Sorry to hear about it, Derek, but this is something affecting all investors. Considering how the FTSE has changed, it sounds like you may have fared better than others.

However, a big point to note about investing is that investments can rise and fall in a cycle - so downtimes are to be expected. Cashing out now is the worst that can happen. Instead, just hold on steady as over the next 5-10 years growth should help the fund recover.

Appreciate how frustrating this can seem, though.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.

Any other advice (including Abbey's!!) seems to be to sit tight, and we don't need the money now.

Derek

Indeed, it's only a paper loss - unless you cash it in. Unless there's a pressing need to get at your money, you may as well leave it where it is.

As an aside, though, it does sound like the fund has performed decently - my ISA is currently down from £7200 to £1500 in value! Luckily, I don't need my money back now...
