The ATM fees all over the world are causing such a ruckus that people are going to the highest possible levels of government to complain about it. Does anyone have a story on this in their own country? They are raking up millions for each transaction and robbing us blind.
Where we live (in the US) it's highly variable how much the fees are and each bank handles it differently. The credit union we were with at one point would refund the fees for the first 4 transactions a month. The bank we're with now has no fees at their own ATM's but won't refund other ATM fees. I hate having to pay up to $3 to take my own money out of a machine!
I have found a way around the fees in the US. I'll go an buy a soda in the store and go through the check yourself out and withdraw the money that way.
I also have a bank that doesn't charge for its own ATMs but does from others.
Which bank is that ACCER? I am sure the banks that don’t charge ATM fees will be the ones people flock to. It’s a big issue now so people are starting to crab about it. Banks better listen..they are making record breaking profits...and we are paying the price..but they might pay the price in the end. It’s just like how they wouldn’t give mortgages to small business people. They went elsewhere so now they are offering them.
Actually I don't know of any banks in the US that charge their customers from using their own ATMs. My locally owned bank refunds all "foreign" atm charges to their customers.
The more atms worlwide, the better your chances of avoiding atm fees...just go to one owned by your own bank.
Apparently, there is a fee that one’s bank charges if I am not mistaken. I would have to look it up to see if this is the case. I know there is a monthly fee for using the debit cards and man, can that add up! It’s better to take out cash or even put it on your VISA since there is no fee.
Unless you have a bank ATM near you, you might find yourself having to use one near y which sucks because that is usually about 3 bucks. Thats a lot of money just to take out your own money.
The way around that is by buying something and getting cash back. I generally buy a soda and then get cash back....eventually I'm going to drink it so at least the money is going to waste!
I normally use my own bank ones, but for work I was at a motorway services and outta cash. I The machine in there hit me for £1.85 and calls it a "convinience fee" on the receipt! Hope they'll pay it back on expenses...

Yep, you can even go into Wal-Mart and get $20 or more cash back when buying a piece of gum. Less than an ATM fee even if you don't like gum!
