Default Avoid stamp duty? (IRS)

I notice some brokers offer trading on IRS stocks on the London Stock Exchange.

You don't need to pay 0.5% stamp duty on these stocks. So what are the negatives about dealing in stocks like this? are they exactly the same stocks as on normal stock exchanges?
