Default Best credit card rates

Anyone here have a credit card for credit purposes?

If so, when you were shopping around, what did you find to be the best deal for you?

Were there any special circumstance involved, or are there a few good vendors who offer the best credit card rates?

It depends a lot on your current credit rating and credit history with various vendors.

I find that the best rate I have right now is from Discover. However, they have just recently reduced my rate due to a good payment history.

As reviewer said, you just can't get "any card" unless you have flawless credit. My dream card is going to be 5% cash back, and pay it back in full before its due, I'll live life 5% cheaper!

5% cash back is pretty much unobtainable. They simply don't make that much money off the fees they charge the businesses. If it's cash, one or two percentage points is about the best on the market -- but more for non-cash perks.

I routinely check the credit card rates in Money Magazine. I'd look to their website for the best rates, qualifications etc.

In doing a little searching I notice some places offer "up to 5%". I would guess, based on my experiences, that this means something along the lines of 1% most of the time, and 5% on "bonus purchases" (some genre of purchase like gas or groceries, or, from certain retailers).

That's my experience as well. Locally, a grocery store has special discounts if you use their store mastercard. So I do. I use it for groceries and gas at their station. The idea is to get my interest money. They don't. I pay it in full. I save around $50 a month on food and an additional $100 or so on gas.

Default How to obtain credit reports

Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs) have a statutory obligation to provide you with your credit file and charge no more than £2. These reports are paper based and will be posted to you.
Apparently there is a service that offers you your credit information from the 3 CRA's simultaneously for approx £70 and with an initial free trial period. Do you know what this service is and who the third CRA is?
