Default Careers in Stockbroking

I recently gradutated with a 2:1 in Maths from the University of Liverpool. I have been interested in stockbroking for a long time and have decided to try and persue a career in this area, but I am finding it difficult to find roles available to graduates. I have just undertaken two interviews at a small private investment company in central london but unfortunately I was unsuccessfull and was pipped to the post by a more suitable candidate. I am keen to keep trying, and determined to show my worth to potential employers but at the moment I am struggling to locate opportunities that are available to someone with no experience.

I was hoping to find some help and direction, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Ian

I'm not able to speak for any company you approach, but I would say that enthusiasm and a real passion for the subject and niche aspects of the area would be a great bonus for you.

I mean, how much do you actually know about investing? I'm thinking you almost give the impression of an interest by name, but know few details?

Also, do you know there are various computer platforms and algorithms used to minimise risk and determine opportunity in investment
? Is this an area you've looked into? As a maths grad, what are your thoughts on this?

Don't answer these questions to me - answer them to yourself.

If I was an investment company, these are definitely areas I'd expect you to be able to answer.

2c.
