Default Co-op to withdraw credit card cheques

I understand Credit card cheques will be more tightly regulated in the near future - especially in respect of sending unsolicited ones in the post.

From reading this month's statement I undertstand that The Co-op are withdrawing from issuing credit card cheques completely.

Is this a pattern that is emerging across the industry?
