APR credit cards are much more prevalent than in years past. Competition is stiff and credit card financial institutions offer many nice perks, rewards, points, low annual percentage rates (APR) and other inducements. They want to capture new customers who've never had a credit card but also those who already have a credit card and might like to save money by transferring that card's balance on to their new low APR credit cards.

There are several sites that are great about listing the best current credit card deals. Money.com is one of them.

When i applied for my credit card about 2 years ago (it was a Barclays card) i mainly looked at the balance transfer rate and its duration. insurespot.co.uk allowed me to compare that credit card with others which i found really helpful

APR is also negotiable. If you've had a card for over 6 months and APR is important to you, call them up. Many times, you'll get a lower rate.

I do that whenever they try to raise the interest rates on a card. I get the lowest current rate from Money Magazine, call up the offending company and get them to match it. Thus far none have refused.
