Default Downloading Market Data

Hello,
I'm a researcher at a Centre for Complex Systems analysis working on simulations/analysis of systems using bio-inspired computation, mainly swarming behavior. I think the system can be applied to markets and used to develop trading agent behavior. The problem is that I am having difficultly finding a good source of market data. I need the simulations to be able to access market data directly. I don't have much money but I don't need real-time data, not required prove the analysis works. Currently I have written code that pulls the data of Yahoo and Google, but its not 100% reliable and I don't think they like it really.

Does anyone know of a cheap source of data that would be accessible in this way, either by an API or something similar. I don't mind paying something but not to much.

Thanks.
