Family History Quest
This is a shot in the dark but if I don't try this Forum, I'll never know if there is someone out there who can help. My husband had a great-uncle who worked for the Esssex and Suffolk Equitable Insurance Society all his working life. He became a Fellow of The Chartered Insurance Institute in 1925 at the age of 26. He first worked at Ipswich, Suffolk and then in Essex, at the Essex and Suffolk Fire Offices Building in the Colchester High Street.
We have a photo of him wearing a medal/badge of office around his neck. My father-in-law says it was when he was President (for 1 year) of some Insurers body or something, Eastern Region. We don't know what though.
I tried putting a post in the General Discussion secion, along with a pic but I think this has failed as it didn't appear. Perhaps it was because of the pic. Anyway, if anyone thinks that they may know something that can help - I'll be much obliged. I can always send the bad image to someone direct if they want. Fingers crossed Heather
