Make sure to keep a check on the fees. You would generally want a no fee account if you are not planning on keeping much money in it. A no fee account usually allows a minimum to be deposited. However, they do not draw interest, which is something you would want to do if you planned on having quite a hefty sum in your checking.

Taking back this post, holidays are just around the corner and most banks are encouraging open savings or checkings acounts that might worth for special offers attached.

That's a good point there MasterMind!
Its always best to look out for special deals but make sure to look into the small print incase the offer doesnt last very long!
