Default FTSE dropping near 6000

Well, it doesn't seem all that long ago that we were cheering that the FTSE 100 had cleared 6000 points again.

However, the recent drop in world markets means the FTSE 100 has lost 5% of its value and is now hovering below 6100.

Question is, are we going to see a general bear market leave the FTSE 100 sinking closer towards 6000, or does anyone expect this to be just another short downturn cycle?
