It will at least stabilise the real estate industry in London and the South East, safeguarding jobs and then boosting confidence in the local economy, which cause a ripple affect into the greater economy. Also people who successfully sell their house and move along the property chain are more likely to feel financially secure I read somewhere ... and if their feeling financially secure then they will spend more .. ??
