Default Insurance Company Problems

Hi there, i wounder if anyone can help me here, my 17yr old daughter took out a car insurance policy on her first car, on taking out the policy she was asked if she was taking her pass plus to reduce her premium she replied yes, 6 weeks later when she handed in her pass plus she was told they would not accept it as it was not submitted within 30 days, but this was not told to her, they now want to charge her an extra £250 for not having a pass plus and when she said she couldn't afford that she was told that if she cancelled the policy there would be a 75% cancellation fee, they even listened back to the tape of the phone call, refused us a transcript or a copy and have added a £25 charge for listening to it. can this all be right. they said the tape confimed she said she would take her passplus but they didn't listen to see if the operator mentioned the 30 day rule, if we want them to listen again it will be another £25.

does anyone have any advice or a site i may visit to get the correct advice.

Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you should refuse to pay anything, and write a letter of complaint informing that if the company will not resolve the situation, that you will escalate the matter with the relevant financial ombudsman.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like madness!

Thats what happens when companies have huge call centres that don't communicate with each other i suppose!
