Default Investing ?

There are so many shares and ETFs to choose from . Does one narrow the field down by getting Tips at the time and then he does the research vis a vis company accounts and charting etc. I think its Vital to have a stock broker executiion deals for people not in the field makes the job far too difficult. Will a broker produce and send the relevant charts within a few days etc.

No, that would be completely the wrong approach and destined to fail in today's marketplace.

If you try to narrow the field I would recommend that you stick with sectors which you understand.

You can apply fundamental analysis or technical analysis or a combination of both when you evaluate an equity.

The last thing you need is a broker in the marketplace. Who told you that? That's the worst choice. A full commissioned broker will be a waste of your money.

I edited this post as the original post may have been a bit too offensive. My appologies.

You're right one has to start and learn from mistakes.

All I say is avoid brokers, don't listen to analysts and don't waste time on financial planners.

You have to invest some time if you want to suceed.

I think it is good that you try to gather as much info as possible. I hope that you get the info that will help you out.

nicklord1, if you think the advice may be good, then track it - look at the stock tips they make, then follow performance without risking your cash. That way, you can see if anyone is actually altruistically giving real tips and information out, as aside to trying to manipulate the value of shares for their own investment gains.

I may be wrong but the majority of free investment ideas will get you to be average at best.

'Smart-Money' never publishes free investment ideas.

I agree with Brian, if you like it then follow it for a while.
