Default Life Insurance with Savings?

I'm keeping an eye out for life-insurance (assuarance) plans with savings.

I remember doing a stint as a Financial Advisor with London and Manchester Assurance as a teen, and one with variable life/savings cover always seemed a good idea.

I've only done a little shopping around so far, but it seems that most places are fixated on Term Life Assurance policies, which seems a little like wasted money.

Are there any decent life insurance with savings plans out there, especially ones that offer variable life cover according to what you need?

Many insurance companies will offer this. Just do some shopping around and compare plans.

Okay, think I'll have to just do that.

While I'm far from an expert on life insurace, I think term is the way to go. You're better off investing the extra money you'd pay for whole life on your own.

Insurance should be a safety net in case of death - not an investment vehicle.

I agree that term life insurance is the way to do it. There is money that you can invest in stocks and bonds and you will come out much more so better. There are even Money Market accounts that you can earn a higher yield from than through your life savings.

Always market for the best insurance deals. However, it is better to get from well-known insurance companies. In our place, people have been wary and careful coz of the many insurance companies, even having big names before, which have been bankrupt.

I don't understand life insurance. Aren't you betting that you will die early enough to make the payments worth it for your family while the insurance company is betting you will live long enough for the premium payments to be worth it to them.

Wouldn't you be better off investing that money in a high yeild mutual fund?

There are some insurance companies that offer life insurance plus savings and investing benefits. But i think you most of those companies are attached to banks. So usually the banks which offer insurance services also have the savings and investment benefit.

Has anyone ever dealt with insurance bonds? I've been given some information by friends but still not entirely sure about the whole process and what it entails. I was hoping someone could shed a bit of light on this topic for me...

Welcome to the forums, freddyb45.

To be honest, what I would ask is what my investment strategy is first, and then ask whether any particular investment vehicle suits that. If so, fine, it's worth consideration.

However, if you have to ask about an investment vehicle because it's been touted as an opportunity, then that's a potential road to trouble because decisions are being made not through a calculated assessment of strategic risk, but fast opportunity. The latter is something likely to attract disappointment in the long term.

Gotta find a plan that works best for you and your situation.

Don't get suckered into a plan that you cant afford.
