Default Lloyds and Billers? Confused

I was not sure where to post this, so here goes.

I run a dating site, and I would like to start accepting payments online. I've seen a few of the competition sites using billers, and I know some sites go via merchant accounts. I've had a VERY bad time going through various third party merchant accounts in the past and do not want to go down that route again.

I'd rather go direct with my bank.

My credit rating is poor, although I do have around 1k a week going into my student account. I'm guessing I would need a business account ... but my site is not registered as a business at the moment.

I'm a little confused on who to contact and who to speak to about this. If anyone has any advice, fire away.

Thanks

Speak to the business manager at your local branch - but be warned that high street banks are still very nervous of the internet, and generally will not offer a merchant account without an established trading history.

Really, your best bets are processors such as Paypal and Google Checkout - but if you have problems with these you need to ask why, and whether your business is really that viable if you cannot use these.
