Do forums make money? Guess it is from the ads but does it compensate? You also spend for webhost, etc. Can you really get much from the ads of the forums alone? Google adsense? How do you get other advertisers to post their banners/links?
Forums are very time-intensive to run, and also traditionally make very little money, unless established in a relatively competitive market subject.
It's a real shame, though, because blogs get all the attention as a community experience, but it's really forums where the online communities are anchored.

I have learned many things from forums. I never really thought about it at first. When I started browsing the net, the first time that a newcomer sees are workfromhome job scams that really sucks and asks for money which don't usually work. I have discovered the online money making ventures thru forums and they greatly help a lot. It pays to be able to connect to real people even if they are just in cyberspace.
i couldn't agree with you more, feline. i do learn a lot from forums. although asking questions and giving my own answers contribute a lot to the learning experience, most of the time, just being a mere reader and reading all sggestions and comments of people make me learn a lot. i found, too, that myths in the web which we believe to be true are usually debunked in forums. forums are truly a manna from above. haha
