Default New Investor - 6-12 month investment

Hi guys,

Never invested before, but reading as much as I can, still got so much to learn.

Come February I would like to invest around 2-3k - now I know alot of you don't believe this is enough to start with, but I disagree - its just not enough to make a ridiculous profit.

My initial idea was to invest in a mutual fund for two reasons:

1. it is managed by a professional
2. it offers diversification - which I believe is important, especially for a novice

is their any such mutual fund, or indeed any other investment kind that could give a v good return, without a ridiculous risk level? Obviously there is always a risk associated with investing - but just some more knowledge would be great.

Thanks for listening.

Hi
You don't need to take risks to make money. You could quite easily make 4% per month trading stocks and options yourself. I definately agree that you don't need to start with massive amounts to create a return. All I would say is that any costs will be proportionally higher with smaller amounts. Costs obviously become diluted with higher amounts.
I started with a small amount personally and built up. Drop me a line if you want.
All the best
Simon
