a courtest car is something that is needed if you live in a secluded area and need to use a car, but more people i have learned are checking their insurance policy to check what is included.

I was supposed to be entitled to a courtesy car but they conned me out of it. Apparently, the courtesy car is given to you by the garage after they have inspected the car, while they are fixing it. But I crashed 100 miles from home, and had to hire my own transport to get home. Then when they deemed my car a write-off, they didn't tell me I was entitled to a courtesy car for two weeks until AFTER I had moved the policy to another vehicle and was no longer eligible.

I think this should be standard with all comprehensive policys. I got one with mine on ibuyeco insurance. However haven't had them many times in the past. I don't think people will stretch to the extra cost for them generally and are likely to avoid it to save money.
