Oil keeps falling. This is a good thing.

Oil is back up to $70. Do we hit 73 or 67 first? I would guess 67. But if I really knew I'd be rich. Anyone else want to venture a guess?

OPEC have been trying to calm the markets but even production output quotas didn't stop the big hikes over the past year. OPEC may not be looking to cut output but they're at capacity already and demand is still projected to grow.

I'm inclined to agree with Brian, and drop in prices can only be short term - Demand is to high for anything different!

no, it's not a good thing, this will merely delay the research and development of alternative fuel sources for cars especially if oil prices continue to fall...

I don't think that a short term fall in prices will make much difference to research as everyone knows that aside from the fact that a price fall can only be short term, there is an increasing awareness that the supply is limited

In fairness, we should have started seeing Hybrid cars 10 years ago. Bush has not exactly been supportive of Alternative energy sources..I agree with Brian as this is the eye of the storm...

Oil has been up again:
http://www.financemarkets.co.uk/2006...w-high-prices/

Although prices have started to drop on US inventories and Iran talks, the inherent instability of the oil prices at the moment means I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw them grow further in the long term.

2c.

Indeed! Oil prices are fluctuating and you just can't expect it to stabilize for now...

Well, I read a report that if oil goes down to $30 a barrel, then it will be bad news for Oil Sands production in Canada.
