Default Probate

I recently sucsefully obtained probate as I did not want to pay solicitors who were quoting from 1000 -1500 or a rediculous hourly rate, but was told by someone whilst I was in probate office that I could charge the estate fees for doing this what would be the normal charge any ideas.

Thanks in advance
