Default Sending money, - should I use Western Union...?

I am thinking of sending about 500 quid to South Korea.

First thought that came to me was using Western Union. They want 37 quid transaction fee and are offering me the exchange rate of 1.53 dollars to the pound. (Current rate is 1.62).

Any comments? Is this the best way to go?

Thanks,,

Thanks,,, I don't think someone can set up a PayPal account in South Korea can they?

PayPayl's website doesn't mention support for the S.Korean "Won" currency.

Try not to use Western Union unless you personally know the person on the other end! Seriously this is used in so many scams it is unbelievable!

Western Union isn't a very secure way of trasnferring money - I think Nochex or paypal are good alternatives

I would use the SWIFT bank transfer. It is a safe and secure no worse than Western Union.

Western Money is notorious for being used by criminals.

You can also use Alert Pay. Or use banking channel to transfer it through bank's swift code into receiver account.

I agree with using paypal. You can transfer money in dollars and you have the option to have that fund converted to local currency when the receiver transfer the money to his/her bank account. Although I have had a not so good experience with paypal one time, but I still think that it is a faster and cheaper way to send money.

Use a bank transfer or paypal as already suggested, much safer.
