Default Stop the SIP and start investing in fixed deposits?

Hi Friends,

I was doing a SIP in 2007 and part of 2008. When the markets crashed my relationship manager at HDFC asked me to stop the SIP and start investing in fixed deposits. I don’t know if that was right or wrong, but even when sensex is back at 15000 my money in mutual funds is still not equal to what I invested. Is it the same with everyone?

Anyone whose SIPP was in stocks probably lost money over 2008 to early 2009, unfortunately. Common for everyone I think.
