After having just completed my tax return, the US TAX code is such a complicated joke. If I didn't use Turbo Tax (computerized program), I don't know how I would do it. You have to be Einstein to figure half of this stuff out - and I'm a CPA (although a non -practicing one) . They should really come up with something more simple. But I doubt the Attorney & Accountant Lobbyists would ever let that happen.
I used to always use turbotax, and then turbotax online. I have a tax preparer in the family now, though, so they do all my taxes. It ended up being a huge blessing too. They may charge high fees but the last time I tried to do my own taxes, I was looking at $130 refund. I decided to let them have a crack at it and I ended up with a $1600 refund. The $100 fee was not missed.
Triumph: Was the extra amount of refund due to their expertise or would you have gotten the same thing had you done it on your own? Maybe you had more deductions this year. If they got the refund you couldn't have gotten on your own, it was definitely worth the money. But around here, I couldn't get anyone to do my taxes for $100. Keep that Accountant.
