Default The Amero

I have been hearing these persistent rumors that in North America, they are pretty close to implementing the Amero. This would combine North, South and Central Americas. Just wondering what this means for the real estate markets? I mean can you imagine the US and Canada having to come down a peg or two in their expensive real esate markets compared to Mexico, Central and South America? Maybe this is why the US real estate market has tanked?

There is a fascinating link about the Amero versus the US dollar. It describes the value of both monies with brilliant perception and analysis. Fascinating stuff...I tried to post it here but it said that I had to make 10 posts before I could add a URL..oh well:-(

I doubt that the United States would adopt such a system. We still haven't even adopted the metric system. How can you imagine them to adopt a different currency?

If I may just add my 2 cents here.

I think the logical thinking would be to go ahead with the Amero, much like the Euro which is threatening to replace the USD as a choice of currency.

The main point here is how the US perceives this move to be beneficial to its own economy. I think the other neighbouring countries would benefit tremendously while the US would benefit moderately.

I think this is still quite a long way off.

Unless, of course, that long unstable USD finally falls belly up. May look a bit more attractive then for the US.

That isn't going to happen. The US government isn't going to accept a new currancy. The American people would take serious issue with it.

It could definitely happen. However i don't see the central American countries or Mexico getting involved. I do see the USD and CAD combining with how close their exchange rates have become.
