Default Will we ever change to Euro?

I've just read an article about how the pound has hit the lowest it's been in 5 months. With the rate at 1.10, 1 euro is currently worth £0.90!!!

Does anyone else think this is getting ridiculous! When the Euro was first introduced, I couldn't think of anything worse than having to change our currency, however now, people are very familiar with the Euro and know it's value, so what is actually stopping us from changing! I know that we like to keep our identity etc. but we are the EU - and I see it as being stubborn on our side. It was also announced that the pound is down on the dollar also! When is this going to end! I'm going to Miami next month and I've suddenly realised that I am going to need to save a lot more if the rate stays like this!

nard1 I totally see where you are coming from, I mean my holidays this year have been at the worst exchange rate ever! I changed £600 and got approx €650! I might as well have taken my ££££ you know what I mean?

Maybe the reason the government are holding out is in the vain hope that it will improve and become its former self?

I mean initially I was all up for keeping the ££ as it meant we had a stronger curreny and it benefitted us when going abroad etc! With things looking the way they do now, I say why not?? What difference does it make anyway?

What does everyone else think?

i can only see things getting more expensive if we were to change, i think the policy will be the same as alot of others, wait and see if in 12 - 18 months the rates are unchanged then i think more and more people will be calling for it.

Interesting thought, would always like to stick with pounds sterling myself.

Yes it is more worth more right now, however by pennies, literally!!!

I just thinkit would be a better idea to change to the Euro - I really believe everyone will benefit. People will go on holiday more (both consumer and business benefiting), the banks will not have to worry about extra currencies in their braches and consumer will not have to worry about changing up their money (both consumer and business benefit), we won't feel like we are losing money when we come home to change up our change and save the bank time having to change up the money (again consumer and business benefit.)

Do you know what I mean?

Yeah I do see your point of view dont get me wrong but imagine if the ££ gets stronger in the next year or so again - there are more benefits for us in this than in it changing ti the €€ you know?

If it remains as it is now then yes we may as well change and get the job over and done with asap! But if it grows stronger then it is better as we get more for our money when we go on hols etc.... So its a hard one really!
