Pensioners slipping below the poverty line

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have established that half of all single pensioners receive an annual income of under £6,000. Analysts at JPMorgan said as a result of the fallout from the US sub-prime mortgage crisis and the credit squeeze, job losses London's City financial district could be around 40,000.
