The Centre for Retail Research (CRR), in a study commissioned by shopping comparison website Kelkoo, found that UK shoppers spent more online than anywhere else in Europe in 2009.
The research showed that UK consumers spent £38 billion online last year (the equivalent of €1,240 (£1,070) per shopper) and accounted for almost a third of all European sales.

Two thirds of investors don't bother seeking financial advice before making an investment, according to a new study.
In a poll by the Fair Investment Company (FIC), 64% of respondents said they would not seek advice before making a decision about where to invest their money.

Card-payment processing company, E-Clear, has been placed into administration.
The company was responsible for online ticket sales at Scottish airline Flyglobespan, which collapsed in December.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which was appointed administrator for Flyglobespan, had been investigating E-Clear to establish why the company held back £35 million owed to Globespan Group, which operated Flyglobespan.

The website has been redesigned to give customers more control over their Barclaycard accounts.
