Dragons' Den entrepreneur to kick-start UK property market

Entrepreneur, James Caan, has launched an attempt to kick-start the UK property market in conjunction with property portal, Look4AProperty.com.

Look4AProperty Money is offering interest-free loans to cover costs such as stamp duty and legal fees, with access to the scheme through a UK-wide network of selected estate agents.

According to Mr Caan, who is best known for his appearance on Dragons’ Den, “a healthy housing market is the lifeblood of the UK economy” and “thousands of people who have been putting off moving or buying their first home can now climb up the property ladder without further delays”.

The scope of the initiative is broad, buyers simply have to ask a participating local estate agent to arrange the finance for them as part of the offer they are making on a property.

They will also have to use legal firm, LMS, for conveyancing services.

Repayments can be spread over two or three years and there is also a 10-month facility to cover the cost of a Home Information Pack, although in this case the principle sum plus interest is payable at the end of the term.

The finance is provided by Hitachi Capital (UK) PLC, which receives commission from participating estate agents and LMS.
