Nationwide tops poll for good customer services and reliability
by Kay Murchie
A customer satisfaction survey from moneysupermarket.com has revealed that Nationwide is the UK’s most trusted bank or building society.
Nationwide topped a poll with 18.7% of the vote and it was particularly noted for its good customer services and reliability.
In second place was Natwest with 13.3%, third place went to Halifax with 11%, Lloyds TSB was in fourth place with 10.2% and fifth place was HSBC with 8.9%.
Kevin Mountford at moneysupermarket said the traditional big 4 banks have constantly trumpeted themselves as Britain’s most trusted names so it was a surprise to see them topped by Nationwide.
Mr Mountford continued by saying Nationwide performed brilliantly, not only by out-performing its competitors but also being the only building society in the top 10.
He also suggested that following the problems at Northern Rock, consumers are increasingly looking to customer service rather than the very best rates and products.
Northern Rock is now only most trusted by 0.5% of the population, showing that trust in a brand can diminish very quickly, concluded Mr Mountford.
