Asda signs up LV= for breakdown cover

Asda’s car insurance customers are to be covered for road rescue by LV= following a partnership deal between the two companies.

LV’s Britannia Rescue division - the UK’s fourth largest road rescue company - will provide the cover for an initial period of three years, starting this month.

The breakdown products will be sold in Asda’s 337 UK retail stores, as well as online at

Gideon Ingham, Asda’s head of insurance and savings, said: “By joining forces with Britannia Rescue we will be offering customers one of the best value road rescue products on the market.”

Prices for full UK breakdown cover will start from £73.92. Cover can be vehicle-based, or attached to an individual.

Britannia Rescue operates over 500 garages across the UK, and its rescue agents reach 92% of breakdowns within one hour.

Andrew Beard, LV=’s business director, said his company is ‘delighted’ by the partnership because Asda has ‘a substantial and loyal customer base’.

He added that the deal is part of LV=’s ‘ambitious growth plans’.
